Anxiety is one for the most commonly presented problems that people
bring to me. Its quite natural for one to feel fear when confronted
with danger, or a life threatening or dangerous situation. KELLY BROOK suffered a panic attack while posing in a water tank during a photo shoot. Kelly was submerged into a 12 foot (3.6 metre) water tank for a photo shoot and she admits it was a terrifying experience. She recalls, "It was the most difficult thing I've ever done. I've never been so scared. "It was so far out of my comfort zone that I panicked and found it difficult to draw breath."
But if you feel anxious over a long period of time over something for no
apparent reason then this is not natural and the individual is suffering
from an anxiety. This is often referred to as suffering from within
by something that is outside of their control.
What is anxiety and how is it treated?
If you are suffering from anxiety this can manifest itself in many
ways and with many unpleasant side effects such as panic attacks,
phobias, lack of confidence, and depression. But effects may not be
just mental affected symptoms. It could manifest itself as physical
pains such as migraines and headaches, rashes, and stomach and/or
bowel problems such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. By using our form
of hypno-analysis we discover the underlying cause of the problem
– the root cause – and then remove the emotion or feelings
attached to the problem. This removes the symptoms permanently !
Testimonial From John L
I very much recommend this. I went to Greg as a last resort because I was never sure what to expect, but i now wish I'd tried it first. I went through 12 sessions of Analytical Therapy for a number of different things, and I now feel able to take control of my life without fear or worry and can finally relax myself no matter what kind of day i've had. I'm very grateful to Greg for his help and certainly wouldnt hesitate to recommend him to anyone else.

Phobias and treatment in Bedford
What are Phobias and how are they treated?
A phobia is a fear, an irrational fear, that even as time passes refuses
to dissipate and go away. This time period could be as much as a lifetime
if left untreated. These phobias take many forms and could be, for
example, a hear of Spiders ( Arachnophobia) which is often deemed
to be the one that people generally associate with when you mention
the word “phobia". This is a specific phobia and if you
think logically and reasonably how can a small harmless creature cause
such fear and panic in some people?
Other phobias are more general such as a fear of heights, or social
phobia such as fear of public speaking or blushing etc. The one thing
that is certain whatever the phobia is that it affects your everyday
life – and not for the better!
The list of Phobias is almost endless. If you can think of a problem
there is undoubtedly a phobic name for it. There are hundreds of phobias
from as we mentioned the fear of spiders ( Arachnophobia), to fear
of being sick ( Emetophobia) through every letter of the alphabet.
The list is endless and these phobias develop in response to any object
or situation.
Common phobias
- Arachnophobia - fear of spiders
- Aviatophobia - fear of flying
- Hydrophobia - fear of water
- Acrophobia - fear of heights
- Claustrophobia - fear of enclosed spaces
- Agoraphobia - fear of open spaces
- Scopophobia - fear of being judged
- Coprophobia - toilet phobia
- Nyctophobia - fear of darkness
- Odontophobia - fear of dentists
- Glossophobia - fear of public speaking
- Aichmophobia - fear of needles
- Thanatophobia - fear of death or fear of dying
- Demophobia - fear of crowds
- Hemaphobia - fear of blood
- Nosocomephobia - fear of hospitals
- Iatrophobia - fear of doctors or fear of going to the doctor
- Trypanophobia - fear of injections
- Emetophobia - fear of being sick or vomit phobia
- Coprophobia - toilet phobia, fear of going to the toilet
- Shy Bladder / Shy Pee - another toilet phobia
Peoples phobias vary in strength – like the person who cant
stand the sight of a spider, to someone who cant stand the feel of
a spider, to someone who is happy as long as they can put it in a
jar and throw in the garden – or worse still thrown down the
toilet! Some people may be fearful when they see a spider and others
even at the mere thought of a spider. The one thing that all have
in common though is…..they can be helped !!
A panic attack
The symptoms of a phobia are virtually the same as for a panic
attack – namely:
“The heart beats alarmingly quickly – like a palpitation,
and the subject becomes vaguely aware of a number of bodily effects.
Frequently the breathing rate increases rapidly as though the subject
just wasn’t getting enough air. This is know as “air hunger”.
There can be a cramped feeling across the lower part of the diaphragm
and a tingling sensation, accompanied by either hot or cold flush
in unexpected parts of the body – usually the extremities such
as fingers and toes. All the feelings combine to somehow vaguely suggest
to the subject the advent of unconsciousness, or fainting, and the
person can appear almost rooted to the spot as though he had seen
a ghost. The subject is usually dumbstruck and immobilised, he can
neither run nor fight because it all comes from within and he is panic
struck by what is taking place yet something, very vague, and very
abstract does present itself to him only he cannot understand it –
it is truly…….the unknown !"
What is interesting is that if, for example you have a fear of dogs
– it does not mean that somewhere in your past it actually relates
at the root to you being bitten by a dog. If you suffer a severe emotional
reaction in your early life your mind has the capability to bottle
this emotion up and hide it away – it’s a natural defence
mechanism. This is locked away in your sub-conscious. But your mind
has to create something to warn you not to get into a similar position
again – so your mind creates a phobia and this phobia may NOT
be related to the actual root cause of the emotion.
What is Stress?
We all hear and talk about stress in our lives these days –
stress is the ultimate “buzz word”. Stress symptoms often
mimic symptoms of other problems. You may think illness is to blame
for that nagging headache, your frequent forgetfulness or your decreased
productivity at work. But the common denominator may be stress. Indeed,
stress symptoms can affect your body, your thoughts and feelings,
and your behavior. Stress may be affecting your health, and you may
not even realize it. Recognize common stress symptoms — then
take steps to manage them.
Some people tend to take everything in stride. Their naturally laid-back
attitudes shine through in every situation. Another deadline? Bring
it on. You needed to be there 10 minutes ago? OK, let's go. The dishwasher
is leaking? No problem. It'll be a simple repair.
Others get anxious at the first sign of trouble. They may pace the
floor or have difficulty concentrating on the task at hand. An interruption
or change in plans may cause a stir. They may toss and turn all night.
Of course, these examples are extremes. Most people have stress responses
that fall somewhere in the middle. When you feel confident, stress
is far less likely to affect you (as much). You feel more resilient
and more able to cope. If you feel cornered or unprepared, your stress
level may rise.
Now do these seem familiar – Anxiety, Phobia, or Stress?
If so then I can help – it just takes that initial phone call
to get matters underway. I can help with a fear of anything or any
situation.

Driving test nerves
Over
one million people take the UK driving test each year. Driving instructors
will tell you that many people fail their driving test not because
of a lack of driving ability, but because of driving test anxiety
or nervousness which builds up before the test even starts.
Passing the driving test is often as much about being calm, relaxed
and focused as it is about driving skills. Whilst you must take sufficient
driving lessons and get enough driving practice to learn to drive
proficiently, hypnotherapy can help you prepare mentally to stay focused
and relaxed ahead of the driving test itself. Deep relaxation techniques
used in hypnosis help you to focus inwards and start to restore your
feeling of confidence and self-belief, providing real help with passing
the practical driving test.
In hypnotherapy you can use visualisation techniques, using the power
of your imagination to rehearse or practice the test in your mind.
By doing so you will have already experienced the feeling of passing
the test, and your mind has been pre-programmed for success. With
your feelings of confidence and control restored, the driving test
can be tackled with new levels of calmness and assurance. Your aim
is to pass your driving test and to stay calm and relaxed during the
test.
It is common for people who could pass the test quite easily to trip
up due to those test nerves. Even the most confident person gets nervous
– don’t panic though, having nerves but being in control
of them often adds that extra spark to your driving!
These are among the most common symptoms people encounter when faced
with their driving test:
Increased Breathing
Sweating Palms
Trembling
Feeling Sick
Dry Mouth
Feelings of Panic
